Who We Are

Founded by Australian fashion designer Sally Smith, this studio brings together many years of experience working with vintage and antique Japanese textiles.

Based in Shiga, on Lake Biwa, a carefully restored traditional home & separate artist & student residence, as well as recently completed Studio, provides a creative space set in a beautiful part of Japan.

Here, students will participate in classes, creating one-of-a-kind pieces shaped by the history, character, and story of each fabric.
